Learning to self feed || Nuby giveaway || Arlington Virginia lifestyle family photographer

This little guy is less than a week shy of being 10 months old. I feel like every month or so I write something that mentions how old he is, followed by how quickly time is passing or how I can't believe how big he is.. but guys HOW IS HE ALMOST 10 MONTHS OLD?! Because all of our family is out of town, we've also loosely started planning for his first birthday. And on the one hand, I'm excited, because party planning is fun and another creative outlet, but on the other, I'm just like "no. No, no no no no no no no no." I'm not ready. I'm watching my little baby day by day turn into a toddler. And it is so fun, I mean really, I love the way he laughs and plays and really interacts with us now. He is full of opinions and likes and dislikes and has favorite toys and even favorite foods already, but it's hard on my heart to think about him no longer being a baby-baby. Just look at these photos though. Look at those little chubby fingers and that smile at being able to feed himself. There is also so much joy in watching him figure things out for himself and the pride on his face when he does. Helping Cantor figure out eating and drinking has been one of my favorite things to date, possibly related to how much I too, love food.. We introduced baby food right before Cantor turned 6 months and have been slowly moving towards more textured and solid foods. Our pediatrician also suggested that we go ahead and give him a sippy cup, which we did, and I'm happy to say he now drinks from it! Hopefully, that will make the transition very easy at a year when we pack away all those bottles and switch to whole milk.

Nuby products right from the beginning have been some of our absolute favorites as we've explored eating. They recently sent us a few new products, and guys, they're amazing! That super cute little bear plate STICKS to the table. It's allowed us to have family dinners at the table already because it prevents him from throwing the plate on the floor! Which is always pretty important, but we live in an apartment where our dining area is carpeted with beige carpet! Bad things would happen if all that food hit the floor. It's a product I can see us using for a very, very long time.

And now that Cantor has mastered the sippy cup, we're working on cups with straws. I especially love this one because you can close it. That makes it perfect to put water in and toss in the diaper bag. It's truly leak proof so I don't have to worry about it getting anything wet in our bag.

And lastly, what is probably Cantor's favorite is the snack keeper. I love it because it's helping him learn to feed himself, as well as perfecting that pincher grasp required to reach in and pull out food. Not to mention of course that it's mess free snacking and great for on the go. Cantor loves it because it gets filled with yummy things like puffs, and melts, and cheerios. It's also apparently fun to chew on.
